We're Pregnant!

Back in the middle of February I was supposed to go to the doctor for another reason and for numerous reasons decided to take a pregnancy test simply to "rule out" the fact that I was pregnant. Both Joe and I knew that there was no way that I was pregnant. I have previously been diagnosed with something called Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and had been told from day 1 that it would probably be difficult to get pregnant. In fact, I've even had friends and acquaintances that have also been diagnosed with PCOS that HAVE had difficulty getting pregnant and in the end had to go through various fertility treatments and whatnot. So needless to say, me getting pregnant was definitely not on our radar. We weren't even trying to get pregnant! We had planned that we would start trying this summer so that if we did get lucky and got pregnant right away that my due date would coincide with Joe graduating from pharmacy school.

So much to our surprise (at 5:45 in the morning) after 2 pregnancy tests, we found out that I was most definitely pregnant! It certainly came as a shock but we couldn't be more excited! I've been to the doctor once and have already had one ultrasound to confirm how far along I am (at this point I'm 9 weeks). I will try and find a way to scan the ultrasound in and post it. So far everything looks good and little Baby Nugget (as we call him/her) is growing like a champ! His heartbeat measured at 163 at our first appointment and our official due date is now September 28th! I'm just ready to find out what the sex is so that we can start planning a nursery and really getting down to picking out names. I honestly have waited for this moment for so long, I can't believe it's actually finally happening!

So far I've been very fortunate to not have any real pregnancy "symptoms" whatsoever - no morning sickness or anything like that. The only thing that has really hit me is just feeling tired a lot, but honestly since I started taking the prenatal vitamins, that has helped immensely. I am just so very thankful for what is starting out to be a fairly "easy" pregnancy, although I am knocking on wood as I really don't want to jinx it! :)

God has totally and completely blessed us in this situation in ways that I can not even begin to voice. Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart. - Psalm 37:4. This is most definitely the greatest desire of my heart and I am just so unbelievably thankful that God has blessed us in this way. I am so eager to continue on this journey and can't wait for the day when we meet little Nugget!
